The Parks & Recreation Division's goal is to provide responsive and cost-effective maintenance of the park system, city facilities, forestry program, recreational programming and to respond to all citizen complaints and concerns in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
The Division maintains 92.6 acres of Parks/Greenspaces within the City's Park System. Maintenance includes: Aeration, Fertilization, Weed Control, Mowing/Trimming, Mulching Leaves, Topdressing/Seeding, Pruning/Brush Removal, Tree Removal, Tree Planting/Mulching, Flower Bed Maintenance, Playground Maintenance, Picnic Table/Bench Maintenance, Ice Skating Rink Maintenance, Fitness Trail/Nature Trail Maintenance, Boat Landings/Buoys, Skate Park Maintenance, Recreation Programming, Disc Golf Course Maintenance, Painting/Cutting Lines and Ball Field Maintenance, Garbage/Recyling at Facilities and Parks, Minor Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance, Water Line Maintenance, Snow/Ice Removal, Special Event Set-up/Clean-up and maintenance/custodial at City Hall, Fire Station, Police Station, Community Center, Recreation Center, City Garage, Parks Office and several Park Buildings in the Open.
The Division is staffed by the Director of Public Works, Park Superintendent, two Park Laborers, Recreation Coordinator, DPW Caretaker and two Summer Park Laborers.
