Dam Repair Project Underway

Dam Repair Project Underway

Clintonville DamWork has begun on the Pigeon River Dam repair project and is expected to be completed by June of 2019.  This project became a necessity in 2016 after the DNR ordered the City to either repair  the concrete spalls on the downstream piers and to the concrete abutment under the overhead walkway or to remove the dam entirely.  The City chose to make the required repairs and hired Ayres Associates to handle the engineering for the project and to assist with a grant application for funding assistance from the DNR.  The City received notice last summer it would be receiving $218,000 to assist with the project, saving the taxpayers of Clintonville significant money.  The City also saved significant money by drawing down the dam to provide easier, safer, and more stable access to the dam components.  Dams, like any other infrastructure, eventually need repairs or even reconstruction.  It is the City's believe that these repairs will be beneficial to the residents for many years to come.
