The Clintonville Wastewater Utility (CWWU) reconstructed its existing facility in 1988. The facility was designed and built to protect the health and welfare of the citizens of Clintonville and surrounding areas. A CWWU Manager oversees all operations of the Utility. In addition, there are two full-time Wastewater Operators that are both in the IBEW union. The facility is located at 350 East Fifteenth Street. The treatment facility consistently removes 95-100% of pollutants that would otherwise enter the Pigeon River. The facility recycles approximately 600,000 gallons of water per day or 219,000,000 (million) gallons per year. The facility recycles approximately 1,000,000 gallons of biosolids per year.
Utility personnel use the sewer jetter/vactor truck to clean out a pump station at Brent and Ruth St. All of the pump stations in Clintonville (12 of them) are cleaned by this method twice per year. With frequent cleaning we lower the chances of basement backups.
