Youth Baseball League/Minor League/Pony League

This organization, with programs for programs for youth age 7-13, plays its games at the youth league diamond in W.A. Olen Park and two of the fields at Bucholtz Park evenings from early May to mid-July.  A natural amphitheater accommodates the many fans who bring along their own lawn chairs at W.A. Olen Park.  Bleacher seating is also available.  Games are played Monday  through Thursday evening, plus occasional Saturday mornings.  This Youth Baseball Organization also hosts Little League and Pony League tournaments during the summer at Bucholtz Park.

Church Softball League

The Church Softball League plays at the softball fields at Bucholtz Park, generally on Tuesday evenings.   Teams come from area churches and are composed of both youth and adults with no formal set roster.

Clintonville Area Baseball/TCJ Baseball

Clintonville Area Baseball offers a program for 14-15 year olds that takes place at W.A. Olen Athletic Field.  The facility features bleachers, night lighting, generous parking and handicapped restroom availability.

American Legion Baseball

Clintonville’s American Legion Baseball team also plays its games at the Athletic Field in W.A. Olen Park during the summer months.  Fan support is always welcome.  The concession stand at the athletic field is normally open during their games.

Girls Softball

This program for girls 7-17 years old takes place at the softball fields in Bucholtz Park.  Some of the girls play on teams in a league comprised of teams from various communities in northeastern Wisconsin.

Clintonville Athletic Club

Over the years the Clintonville Athletics, the local adult baseball team, has achieved an enviable record participating in various semi-pro leagues in this part of the state.  Games are played throughout the summer at W.A. Olen Athletic Field, with the concession stand always available to serve the fans in attendance.  A small admission fee is charged.   The Club also hosts tournaments at the field during the summer, which brings to town a number of excellent baseball teams that provide some exciting baseball action for the local fan.  With community help, this Club also sponsors the Independence Day celebration.

Frisbee Disc Golf Course

A simple an 18 hole Frisbee disc golf course is laid out in W.A. Olen Park.  Scorecards have been prepared and are available at City Hall, 50 10th Street and the Park and Recreation Department office at 55 E. 12th Street.  The course is self-guided, with trees marked with large red-orange paint numbers, indicating the location of “holes.”

 

Horseshoe Facilities

Wood box sand filled pits are available at the open and enclosed shelter in W.A. Olen Park, plus the south open shelter at Bucholtz Park.  Players must provide their own stakes and shoes.

Sand pits with permanent posts are available at the Bucholtz north open shelter.   Players must provide their own shoes.

Stakes and shoes can be borrowed from the department.

 

Tennis Courts

Two lighted tennis courts are available in W.A. Olen Park as well as Bucholtz Park.  The lights operate via a coin-operated meter at a cost of .25/per hour.  It is possible to reserve/rent the courts for extended private use.  Contact the department for details.

 

Outdoor Volleyball Facilities

Two sand volleyball courts, with the nets up year round are available in the south end of Bucholtz Park near the south open shelter.  It is possible to reserve/rent the courts for extended private use. Contact the department for details.

Permanent posts are in place adjacent to both the enclosed and open shelters in W.A. Olen Park.  Eye bolts are installed on the posts to easily attach a net at either men’s height or women’s height.  Balls and nets can be borrowed from the department.

 

Pigeon River Fitness Trail

Combining walking, jogging and calisthenics, this 1.1 mile long course/trail provides a balanced program of total fitness conditioning for people of all ages, sizes and physical conditions.

The trail begins at the north end of Brent Street and meanders along the Pigeon River before ending near the starting point.  At twenty points/stations along the trail, signs explain the exercise to be performed.  Brochures with more information about the trail are available at City Hall and other locations throughout the community.

 

River’s Edge Nature Trail

This trail, which uses the same trails as the Pigeon River Fitness Trail as above, includes 20 numbered cedar post stations.  At each station the user is able to view specific nature/flora/fauna specimens as described in the available brochure.  This trail is in the same area where the original Clintonville Public School District nature trail once existed.

 

Skateboard Park

A fenced in area has been created in the Recreation Center parking lot at 55 E. 12th Street, for use by skateboarders, roller-bladers and trick bike riders.  This facility is a joint effort of community volunteers and the department.

All users are encouraged to wear proper protective equipment when using the park.  Skate park hours are 7 am – 10 pm daily.

 

West Street Sledding Hill

A sledding hill has been developed at the west end of Brix Street just off of West Street. Limited night lighting is available at the site.  There is no charge to use the site and supervision is not provided.

 

Outdoor Basketball Facilities

Concrete basketball courts with a 25’ by 25’ square concrete pad are available in most city parks.  The basketball court in W.A. Olen Park also has lights available at no charge.

 

Boat Launch/Fishing Piers

Combination boat launches/fishing piers are available at the boat launch at the intersection of Hemlock, W. 12th Street and N. 12th Streets, at the Pigeon Lake Wayside, at Pickerel Point and at Picnic Point.
