NEWS RELEASE Clintonville Water Utility Wins 2005 Water Taste Test Contest The Clintonville Water Utility was recently chosen as having the “best tasting water in Wisconsin” during 2005 competition conducted by the Wisconsin Water Association (WWA). At the WWA Annual Meeting held in La Crosse, the Clintonville Water Utility scored a composite 101 out of a possible 100 points where water samples are judged based on turbidity, color and flavor as defined by nine categories. The taste test panel included John Alibrandi – an experienced water taste and quality control expert with the La Crosse City Brewing Company; Ms. Diana Henry – local news anchor with WXOW TV – News 19 and, Ms. Joan Kent – a reporter with the La Crosse Tribune and a veteran taste test judge from the 2000 WWA Conference. The City of Clintonville water was selected as best by the panel of judges out of eight water sample contestants representing all five of the DNR Regions throughout the State. The Clintonville Water & Electric Utility was formed in 1909 and serves a population of 4,675 persons. The Water Utility produces 440,000 gallons per day of water supply and utilizes six (6) shallow wells as its ‘source of supply’. A local presentation of award plaque and proclamation banner was made by Tom Krueger representing the Wisconsin Water Association at the October 11th City Council Meeting. John Boogren, General Manager and Bob Stanislawski, Water Superintendent accepted the award for Clintonville. ### The American Water Works Association (AWWA), of which WWA is a member, is an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply. Founded in 1881, AWWA is the largest organization of water supply professionals in the world. Its more than 57,000 members represent the full spectrum of the drinking water community: treatment plant operators and managers, scientists, environmentalists, manufacturers, academicians, regulators, and others who hold genuine interest in water supply and public health. Membership includes more than 4,000 utilities that supply water to roughly 180 million people in North America.
