Until the mid 1990’s Clintonville had a hospital facility. In the mid 1990’s the hospital was closed. However, a nursing home, called the Behling Center, still functioned in part of the building until 2001. When the nursing home closed in 2000 the building was completely vacant. The City worked with the Behling Board and the Angelus Corporation to facilitate the sale of the building from Behling to Angelus. The Angelus Corporation is in the process of completely renovating the building into Independent and Assisted Living for Senior Citizens over the age of 55. The project will cost approximately $6 million. The funding for the project is mainly from private funds, however the City will be contributing between $1 million and $1.3 million. The City was able to provide this funding because it created a Tax Increment Finance District which allows this investment to occur. The project is anticipated to be complete by Fall 2003. For more information about this project or living in the facility please call 1-800-367-1011. Visit Angelus @ www.angelus-retirement.com
