The Board of Zoning Appeals consists of five members appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council, for staggered three-year terms.  Two alternate members are appointed by the Mayor for terms of three years and act only when a regular member is absent or refuses to vote because of interest. 

The Board has the powers and duties prescribed by the Wisconsin State Statutes.
